It’s Been A Week

Well it has been nearly a week since my last post.

Last Tuesday I went to pickup a used lawn mower to load it up on the bed of my truck.

In doing so the mower slid off the ramps a couple of times. Then on the last attempt the mower slid off and fell on top of me. When lifting the mower off of me I strained my upper “Deltoid” and “Triceps.”

I actually strained both shoulders but my left one more than the right.

Both shoulders are now feeling better. But the Urgent Care PA suggested that I go see an orthopedic to get further care for my left shoulder and tricep.

Why did I have to go and buy another riding mower?

Well about a month ago I had my first riding mower strapped onto the back of my truck, because I was being a good son-in-law and had been cutting my in-laws grass.

So on my way back home I had to turn left onto a road and when I went to accelerate and that mower went flying off the bed of the truck, because the strap had broke.

I thought that it was a good strong strap, but to my dismay and destroyed mower it wasn’t very strong at all.

Now that I have learned a costly mistake.

I now have stronger straps and I have it doubled strapped so that it won’t go anywhere now.

The above picture is the totaled mower, it was a John Deere L110. The mower below is a L100. I thought I was going to like this mower a little better, but I don’t.

Why don’t I like the L100, because you don’t have a gas pedal to control the speed of the mower.

There is a gearshift on the right side where the speed is controlled by.

In my opinion and experience with this mower I think that the feature makes it unsafe to operate this mower.

With the L110 it has a forward and reverse pedal. With these pedals it makes it easier to control and operate.

Basically everything else is the same on these two mowers.

So now the search is on to find another L110 or another model like it.

I also fixed the problem with the mower slipping on the ramps. I went to HomeDepot and about some

“Step and Ladder Tread Tape” and applied it to the boards so that the tires will have something to grip to.

My left arm is feeling better daily, and my range of motion with it is still painful but in time I think that it will be okay.

However, my right arm is a lot better with very little pain now. The range of motion on it is good also.

Lesson learned keep mower doubled strapped so it won’t fall off the back of the truck.

Don’t let riding lawn mowers fall on you, it HURTS!
